World Environment Day
On 11 June, for the first time ever the Junior School will be participating in World Environment Day. The theme for this year is “Reimagine, Recreate, Restore”.
For too long, we have been exploiting and destroying our planet’s ecosystems. Did you know that every three seconds, the world loses enough forest to cover a football pitch and over the last century we have destroyed half of our wetlands? Only with healthy ecosystems can we enhance people’s livelihoods, prevent climate change, and stop the collapse of biodiversity.
To celebrate World Environment Day, all students from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be involved in activities. On the morning of Friday the 11th of June, Year 6 will be working with their buddies to create things that will help our environment. Years 3, 4 and 5 will also be working on activities as a grade.
During that week, each student will be sent home activities to help our environment that they will need to complete for home learning.
Keep an eye out for posters around the School that will be popping up soon. And remember “This is our moment, we can not turn back time but we can do something now!”.
