News from The Arthur Holt Library

This week marked the culmination of the Year 10 Independent Projects. The boys submitted their final pieces on Thursday along with their reflections on what they have learned from the process and what they will do differently the next time that they are tasked with a project of this kind.

Some of the work is nothing short of inspiring – we’ve seen an online photography exhibition, infographics, artworks, video essays, educational brochures aimed at teaching kids the dangers of performance enhancing drugs and slide shows, as well as more conventional essays and portfolios. The subject matter ranged from cryptocurrencies, wormholes and carbon capture technologies to the impacts of the pandemic on mental health and the role of social media in young people’s lives.

All that remains is for us to choose ten of the most impressive and innovative projects, which will then receive an award at Speech Day. Based on what we have seen so far, we have some tough decisions to make.

As the term draws to a close, it’s also time to return any outstanding books. There is a crate outside the library and you can also still borrow books for the term break via our Click & Collect service. We can only hope that the new year will see some easing of restrictions so that we can welcome you all back into library very soon.
