News from The Arthur Holt Library
What a pleasure it has been to welcome the boys back into the library! After the various disruptions of the past couple of years, it has been wonderful to see students from every Year group, chatting, working, relaxing and reading around the space. Certainly, the return of the soft furnishings seems to have worked its magic – our Library Manager counted no fewer than 15 boys reading their books on the couches during recess last Tuesday.
The library has also resumed its pre-Covid hours and is once again open from 7.30am to 6pm for all Year groups. Bookings are also open for our Senior School after-hours study skills program Study+ and Movie Club will resume from Week 3.
Boys are also able to borrow and return books as per usual and we encourage everyone to let us know if there is a book that you can’t find on the shelves and would like us to order in for you. After all, who better to tell us about the books that you love to read the most.
We’ve also given each of the Year 7 tutors copies of the books that the boys were given at their Orientation Day. Hopefully it will start some great conversations about books, because (in our opinion) there’s no better way to kick off a great relationship.
“All that humankind has done, thought, gained, or been; it is lying as in magic preservation in the pages of books.” – Thomas Carlyle
