The Academy Recital
This week in the Senior School we opened our 2022 Music Programme’s first concert, the Academy Recital. The Academy is comprised of our Music Scholars and other music students deemed of an exceptional music ability. It was a refreshing way to begin the year, particularly after how Covid enforced music break!
Performances included 2 of our IB Year 12 Music candidates – Joseph Lin (performing Polonaise in D Major for Violin by Wieniawski) and Andrew Tanous (performing the slow movement of the Elgar Cello Concerto. We also introduced our two new scholars joining us in Year 7 this year: Jaemin Yoo performing on Viola, and David Lin performing on Violin. My thanks to all the scholars who performed so early in the Academic Year and to their scholastic colleagues for their support in the audience. And, of course, I would like to acknowledge the work of our School Accompanist, Mr Gregory Kinda.
This concert was not the only High School music performance of the week, with the Marching Band making an appearance on Quad on Wednesday performing Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing’. This is the first of the band’s performances in what is their 70th anniversary year, the band being created at Trinity in 1952.
Finally, a reminder that our next music event is the annual Soloists Competition, with enrolments now open for the Heats, which will take place during Week 6, with the Final to be held on Wednesday 16 March. Entry forms for auditions can be downloaded by using the following LINK –
