News from The Arthur Holt Library
This week, The Arthur Holt Library welcomed the whole of Year 7 and a good portion of Year 8 into the library to read some books. The Year 7 Wide Reading Programme builds on the boys’ experience during orientation day, when each of them was given a tour of the library spaces, a summer reading challenge, and a free book to start them off.
For the Wide Reading Programme, they receive a refresher course in how to use the library and each of them is asked to think of a book that they recently enjoyed and would like to recommend to their classmates. The boys are then invited to find a book that was suggested to them, or any other book that they think they might like and settle down to read.
They will all be back next week for some more reading. Hopefully (weather permitting) we’ll be able to air the picnic blankets and settle ourselves on the Quad to enjoy some sunshine whilst reading our books. The boys will then have the term break to finish reading, before we invite them back to review their books and to upload their feedback onto the library’s catalogue so that everyone in the school might be able to track down a book that they love.
