Year 12 students – University application process

Year 12 parents and students will soon be receiving an email with information about starting university applications through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). In NSW, our tertiary admissions centre – UAC – opens their portal for students to begin their applications in April. There is no need to be concerned that your son is not ready to submit your course preferences at this point, as it is possible to make changes to course preferences until a week or so before offers are released. I will mentor the boys through this process.

There is a lot of detail about the application process that will be covered in our Year 12 Careers Sessions in Term 2. Over the next two terms, I work with your sons individually to assist them with these processes and more broadly, conversations about what course will suit them best.

You might like to keep in touch with UAC events and information in the following ways:

A common question being asked at the moment is about early offer programmes. Early offer programmes are based on Year 11 results and other criteria, depending on which university is offering the programme. ANU’s direct (early) entry programme has opened, and many boys will be completing these applications now. Information about this was posted on the Canvas Careers page when applications opened. I encourage your sons to view this page regularly for up to date information about courses and other schemes.

Most other early programme usually are not open until late Term 2.

If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact me.
