Arthur Holt Library Books at Breakfast Invitation
We at The Arthur Holt Library are very, very excited – books@breakfast is back! The first event since 2019 is taking place on Tuesday, May 31.
In the past we’ve welcomed a huge range of authors – starting back in 2016 with refugee and surgeon Professor Munjed al Muderis, who shared his escape from Saddam’s Iraq, his ten months in detention in Australia, and his career as a ground-breaking biomechanical surgeon. Other guests have included crime writer Yoni Bashan, writer and broadcaster Richard Glover, comedian and Chaser alumni Dom Knight, well-known science geek Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, star cricketer Ellyse Perry and writer, journalist and indigenous advocate Stan Grant.
And this time, we’re looking forward to hearing from Lech Blaine, author and essayist, whose first book, Crash, tells of the aftermath of a tragic car crash which killed three of his teenaged friends, left others severely injured, and himself struggling with his own survival.
Our books@breakfast events are all about fostering the love of reading. Each event starts with a light breakfast, before we hear from our author. There’s a chance to ask questions, and to purchase signed copies of the author’s works.
