Delmar Gallery: Final weekend to see Thai contemporary art exhibition
‘Other Possible Worlds: Contemporary Art from Thailand’ concludes this Sunday. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see some of the most compelling art coming out of Thailand today.
Profound and affecting, the 12 artists’ works engage with pressing social, environmental and political issues facing Thai society and culture, and are united by a desire to imagine other possible futures for their country.
The exhibition is being held simultaneously across two venues, at Trinity’s Delmar Gallery and 16albermarle Project Space in Newtown. Both galleries are open from midday to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, and admission is free.
A fully-illustrated online catalogue accompanies the exhibition with essays by curator Dr Haisang Javanalikhikara (Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok) and James Wise, former Australian Ambassador to Thailand.
As part of a series of educational events, Delmar Gallery recorded a panel discussion about Thai contemporary art, which can be accessed here.
The exhibition has been curated by John Cruthers, director of 16albermarle Project Space and Dr Javanalikhikara.
