From the Sportsmaster | Junior School
Dear Parents,
Our final round of Winter Sport saw our 5A and 6A Football teams victorious agaist Prep 7-1 in derbies at Cooke Park. Our 10As Rugby went down narrowly to Mosman Prep and our Intra boys had another close round of Oz Tag.
Years 4-6 will have three weeks of Oz Tag from next Thursday during timetabled sport time. The Track & Field team will spend some of this time honing their skill sets in their disciplines. All boys are to wear their polo but bring their House shirts across the next three Thursdays (18 & 25 August and 1 September).
There is now no Saturday Sport for most boys until 15 October. A draft draw is being put together and will come out later this term. Tomorrow and next Saturday are Invitational Athletics’ days only for the 27 boys across Years 3-6 who were selected from our House carnival in July. A note went home on Tuesday to those boys about this. The IPSHA Track & Field Carnival is on 29 August.
The annual Year 6 vs Year 7 fixtures for Rugby and Football took place on Wednesday at Summer Hill.
The boys who travelled to the North Coast in June represented the primary campuses.
We had meritorious victories in both, 2-1 in Football and a nail biting 36-32 win in the Rugby. Well done boys!
Dean P. (KR) trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu several days a week. He has been working hard and it has been paying off. Over the school holidays, Dean went to Canberra where he competed at the ACT State Championship and was awarded gold. He has since competed at the NSW State Competition and earnt Bronze. Last week, Dean competed at a Sydney event in Homebush and accomplished gold. Dean’s next challenge is in Melbourne where he will be competing at the National Championship. If Dean is successful, his next step will be international competition.
Congratulations to Roman Urbano (6Ta) who was the ‘Top Gun’ in the combined primary division of the Headmaster’s Dash on Monday. Roman won the final in a time of 6:07s over the 40 metres distance.
Roman, Alexander Chung (6Ta) & Nathan Jones (6Yo), the 3 top Junior School boys were presented with medals on Quad this morning.
