The Black Dog Institute is a not-for-profit organisation focusing on researching into mental health, allowing correct diagnosis and subsequent treatment of those suffering from various mental health illnesses. Notably, one in 16 Australians are currently suffering from depression.

Over the past term, Latham House have run two fundraisers for the Black Dog Institute; a pizza lunch day for the boys of Latham, as well as a Krispy Kreme fundraiser for the entire school. Significant amounts of planning had to be put into place in order to make these fundraisers successful, so I am extremely grateful for all those who worked tirelessly to ensure the fundraisers ran smoothly.

The Latham pizza lunch was also an opportunity for the boys in the House to come together, to reconnect and share a meal as a House. The pizza lunch helped us raise $300. We kept the fundraising momentum going and then decided to run a Krispy Kreme day. This was a much larger scale operation run by a group of IB boys from both Latham House and various other Houses. This saw the sale of more than 500 donuts, raising $430.40. We collectively raised $730.40 that will go into supporting further research into mental illnesses.

Thank you to all those who supported this worthy cause.
