Weekend Sports Roundup – Swimmer wins five golds

Six individual swims for five gold medals and a silver – David Kang’s (7We) superb performances earned him the “swimmer of the meet” title at the national schools championships on the Gold Coast.

He was one of six Trinity students who between them won nine gold medals and 13 in all.

Two other swimmers won multiple gold medals, Christopher Montana (9He) and Jonathan Nam (12St) taking home two each.

In weekend sport, Trinity rugby and football teams came out on top against St Aloysius.

The rugby firsts won 50-33 and the seconds 47-0 as Trinity won eight matches and lost six.

The premiership-chasing football firsts beat Knox 3-2, one of 20 victories against 12 losses and three draws.

The AFL firsts lost narrowly to Barker 66-71, while the Year 7-8 team beat Shore 88-25.

The tennis seconds won 5-3, remaining undefeated heading into the final round against Waverley.

Volleyballers powered to victory in 10 out of 11 matches, led by 3-0 wins for both the firsts and the seconds.

In Cross country, Trinity was well represented in the CAS teams that defeated GPS in the junior, intermediate, and overall competitions at Shore.

Fencers James Davies (11St), Thomas Deller (11Ho), and Henry Moffatt (11WH) won the gold medal in the school teams championships U16 epee competition, as well as bronze in the  U18 epee.
