Year 6 Canberra – 2022

Year 6 Canberra – 2022

Year 6 students from the Junior School have recently undertaken an education tour of the National Capital, Canberra. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programmes with a focus on Australia’s governing system, democracy.

The boys visited many civics institutions; such as The Australian War Memorial, Old and New Parliament House, National Electoral Education Centre and many more attractions.

One of the highlights of the tour was the true experience of Parliament, including a mock Bill proposal in The House of Representatives. It was a wonderful opportunity to experience what it would be like to work in Parliament, as well as understand how our government works.

During their time at The Australian Election Commission the boys learnt about how to vote through a mini election. The boys now have a better understanding of how preferential voting works.

Trinity Junior School recognises the contribution the Australian Government makes of approximately $20 per student to help fund such an important educational experience.

The boys enjoyed many more educational and enjoyable experiences during their three jam packed days in Canberra and slept soundly on the coach on the way home to school!
