Delmar Gallery: Biomateriality closing this weekend

Discover emerging biomaterials in design and art, including seaweed-based polymers for 3D printing, biofoams and mycelium applications in the construction, packaging, design and textile industries.

Biomateriality closes this Sunday at Delmar Gallery. The exhibition goes behind studio and lab doors to reveal research in progress, including material experiments, speculative design, prototypes and samples.  It also includes installations that explore the new aesthetics and philosophical implications of regenerative design. Exhibitors include artists, university researchers, design studios and start-up biotech companies, from the Gold Coast to Melbourne.

To coincide with the closing weekend of this mycelium-filled exhibition, Delmar Gallery is hosting the launch of Eat Weeds: A field guide to foraging. How to identify, harvest, eat and use wild plants by Diego Bonetto.

Diego’s monoprints and map of the Cooks River were part of the River Song exhibition at Delmar Gallery last year.  He also conducted one of his popular ‘Weed Walks’ around Victoria Square and Seaview St as part of an earlier exhibition held at the gallery, Inside the Silos.

Come and meet the author, award-winning environmental educator and artist Diego Bonetto, hear a talk by contributing photographer Hellene Algie and pick up your own signed copy this Saturday 11 June, 3 – 5pm.

Delmar Gallery is open to the public Wednesday to Sunday, 12 – 5pm.  Entry is via the pedestrian gate on Victoria St (Summer Hill campus).
