The Suli Niulala Memorial Scholarship is open to boys from indigenous or Pacific Island backgrounds who are entering Year 7 in 2024.

Trinity Grammar School has established the Suli Niulala Memorial scholarship as a means of honouring and extending the legacy of a much-loved colleague.

Suliasi Niulala taught in the Junior School at Trinity Grammar School from 2007 until he became ill and passed away, following a short battle with cancer. He was a lover of rugby, a musician, a man proud of his Tongan heritage, and a deeply faithful Christian. Mr Niulala was universally beloved in the School community and he had a profoundly positive impact on hundreds of Trinity boys.

The Suli Niulala Memorial Scholarship is open to boys from indigenous or Pacific Island backgrounds who are entering Year 7 in 2024. The criteria include matters that were close to Mr Niulala’s heart, including rugby, traditional culture, and Christian faith. The Scholarship will also take into account other factors, including: financial need; academic progress; demonstrated leadership; and the kind of contribution that the boy will be able to contribute to the Trinity Grammar School community. The Scholarship covers all tuition fees and ancillary costs from Year 7 to Year 12, conditional on satisfactory engagement and progress.
