Weekend Sports Roundup – Debaters close to three-peat

Trinity’s Year 9 debating team reached the ISDA grand final for the third successive year and very nearly pulled off a third straight victory.

The team of Orlando Ang (9WJ), Benjamin De Lany (9Hi), Ryan Qin (9Yo), and Daniel Ho (9Ar) lost to Knox in a close one, with the judges split 2–1 in Knox’s favour.

In Monday’s Track and Field House Championships, Taubman House won by amassing 780 points, 52 ahead of second-placed Dulwich.

The Open cross-country team recorded its best result of the season, finishing third in the St Ignatius invitational, while the U16s came out on top, led by a one-two finish from Matt McLachlan (11WJ) and Kobe Stewart (10Yo).

The volleyball firsts and seconds both won 3-0 as Trinity won seven out of 10 contests, the only three losses coming when the Year 7, 8, and 9 Bs played against Knox A teams.

Footballers won five, lost four, and drew four, the firsts and seconds both drawing 2-2 against Barker, while rugby teams went down 4-8, the firsts losing 12-47 and the seconds 0-27.

Tennis was washed out, and the only AFL match completed ended in a 27-2 win for the seconds over Riverview.
