NSW Athletics collaboration goes from strength to strength
With a rich tradition in Athletics, Trinity is considered to have one of the leading school athletics programs in New South Wales. In recent years, Trinity has produced Olympians who have become household names through the Tokyo and Paris games, including Rohan Browning, Olli Hoare, and Connor Murphy.
Beginning in Term 4 of 2024 and continuing into Term 1 of 2025, Trinity is taking a new step in its Athletics program, collaborating with Athletics NSW to utilise their Centre of Excellence’s (COE) state-of-the-art facilities as part of Trinity’s strength and conditioning program delivery for the Athletics squad.
This partnership will see Trinity athletes integrate track and field-specific training with their strength work, taking full advantage of the COE’s gym and Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre (SOPAC) track facilities.
Mr Matt Wade – Director of Athletics – is overseeing the program to ensure that the students/athletes see the full benefits of the partnership.
“[This partnership] will provide continued access to World Class facilities and give [students] back time in their very busy schedules,” he says. “It will also continue to help the Athletics program bridge the gap between elite High School Athletics and Open level athletics.”
Mr Nils Hestermann, General Manager Performance and Pathways at Athletics NSW says that bringing this partnership to life is an exciting step.
“Having one of the nation’s top school athletics programs engage with the new home of Athletics NSW affirms the quality of the high-performance environment we have built. This collaboration highlights our shared commitment to developing the next generation of Track and Field talent in NSW.”
We look forward to seeing how the student athletes – both now and well into the future – take hold of this opportunity and shape the next chapter of Athletics at Trinity.
