2022 Primary Schools Chess Teams Competition

Applications are now open for a place in the Preparatory School Primary Schools Chess Competition team. Boys from Years 4 to 6 are invited to apply, CLICK HERE to complete the application. Forms must be submitted by Friday 8th April. Boys should be confident players and have a good understanding of the rules.

When is it? Matches run in weekly home and away format and will commence on Friday 6th May. The competition runs through second term and into third term. Finals are played at the end of the rounds.

Where? Matches are played on a “home and away” basis i.e. half the matches will take place at the Preparatory School and the other half at nearby schools. When teams play away, we are dependent on a parent roster to transport the team to the venue, to stay with the team for the duration of the matches, and transport the boys back to the Preparatory School.

Teams: Teams are made up of four players with reserves.

Our school will be entering two teams into the competition this year; ‘Rookie’ and ‘Championship’. There are limited places available and selection will be based on a combination of experience, performance, behaviour, and sportsmanship.
