News from The Arthur Holt Library
The start of a new term is always a great time to ask for book recommendations, since most of the library team have found some extra time to spend working through the new release pile. It also seems like the perfect time to remind the parent community that they are just as welcome to borrow from The Arthur Holt Library as staff and students. Just send us an email and we will put your chosen books on hold for your son to pick up.
There was a typically eclectic collection of new arrivals this month; everything from Peter Fitzsimons’ biography of Sydney’s most iconic landmark to ‘The Bricktionary’, Ryan ‘Brickman’ McNaught’s ultimate guide to Lego.
Our staff favourites included ‘Everyone in my Family Has Killed Someone’ by Benjamin Stevenson, a very modern murder mystery that has been described as, “Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle meet Knives Out and The Thursday Murder Club.” The plot centres on a tense family reunion where the guests end up stranded in a snowstorm. Needless to say, it’s not long before the bodies start to pile up.
Other recommends include Hannah Gadsby’s autobiography ‘Ten Steps to Nanette’, ‘The Maid’ by Nita Prose and ‘Eureka! Mind Blowing Science Every Day of the Year’ by the New Scientist. If (like me) you’ve ever wondered how to escape quicksand or why cats always land on their feet, this is the book for you.
